OUR SPECULATION
In CoM, Sora's feuds with his friends are a lot more severe as he obsesses over his new memories of Naminé,
and ignores their requests to slow down and think things through. Originally the plans of the Organization were going to go
smoothly, they were to take complet control of Sora and have Naminé use Sora's power to collect more hearts for the Organization.
Unfortunately, Axel, the rebel of the Organization, is always messing everything up, eliminating fellow members with the snap
of the finger, and setting Naminé free to mess up their master plan, believeing they shouldn't use someone like Sora like
this.
After all, as shown in Kingdom hearts 358/2 Days, Axel has formed a strong friendship with Sora's Nobody,
Roxas, who was recruited as Number 13 in the Organization.
So, with Axel, Naminé and everyone else, Sora eliminates Marluxia, Lord of the Castle, and is convinced
by Naminé to go to sleep in a special pod along with Donald and Goofy. By doing this, they will get their memory back that
Naminé for so long rearranged and mixed up. But, this process will soon end up being much longer than she anticipated. Before
he goes, Naminé tells him that the memories of the one he cares about most, the ones of Kairi, will be the ones he needs to
wake up, but this proves to be the only thing left that he needs as you travel throughout Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.
Meanwhile, Riku is indeed facing the darkness in his heart, along with Ansem, who resembles the darkness
and tries continually to seduce Riku back into it. Riku gets flustered, confused aobut his existence in the world seeing as
since he uses the power of darkness to his ability, he's not one of the light, but yet keeps pushing away the darkness. He's
known as one who can only push things away.
But, encounters with the King's power as he sends it periodically to Riku, along with the King's new friend
DiZ, and even help from Naminé herself, Riku realizes that he can control the darkness in his heart without being obsessed
over it, and starts his new journey using his darkness to his advantage, knowing that it won't ever have ahold of him.
Now, him and the King exit the castle on the 1st floor encounter DiZ at the crossroads and discuss Riku's
options. Riku responds, I'll take the road to dawn, (versus Light or Darkness).
This sets up the rest of the plot for Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Kingdom Hearts 2, where Sora's story
continues, and where everyone else's is still going on...
